Les sciences sociales en pleine crise matérielle et intellectuelle

Les sciences humaines et sociales (SHS), pour lesquelles un grand campus va être construit à Paris, sont confrontées en France à une crise des débouchés, à la prédominance de l'anglais, et doivent se consacrer davantage à des objets de recherche étrangers, estiment des experts.

Au total huit établissements devraient, pour partie ou totalité, être réunis d'ici sept ou huit ans sur le campus Condorcet à la porte de la Chapelle et à Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis), dont l'Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) qui devra prochainement quitter ses locaux parisiens du boulevard Raspail pour désamiantage.

"Je n'ignore pas qu'un malaise s'exprime concernant les sciences humaines et sociales", a déclaré la semaine dernière la ministre de l'Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche Valérie Pécresse en lançant le projet, au lendemain de l'installation d'un Conseil chargé de définir une "vision stratégique" pour ces disciplines.

Signe du malaise, les étudiants et enseignants-chercheurs en sciences humaines étaient surreprésentés au début de l'année lors du mouvement de protestation contre les réformes du gouvernement.

"Nous formons des chercheurs français et étrangers souvent remarquables sans avoir de jobs à leur proposer", constate le sociologue Michel Wieviorka, à la tête depuis cet été de la Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme.

Plus qu'en sciences "dures", les débouchés sont rares en dehors de l'enseignement, et les emplois stables dans la recherche très convoités. Il arrive souvent que des titulaires de doctorats vivent de petits boulots sans le moindre rapport avec leur activité intellectuelle.

Au CNRS, premier organisme de recherche français, les sciences humaines et sociales ne disposent que d'un seul institut, contre huit pour les sciences "dures" et deux pour la seule physique.

Depuis 2007, la mise en place de l'Agence d'évaluation de la Recherche et de l'Enseignement supérieur (AERES) est particulièrement mal acceptée dans ces disciplines car "il est plus difficile d'apprécier la qualité d'un livre en sciences sociales que d'apprécier la qualité d'une démonstration en biologie", estime M. Wieviorka.

Dans le même temps, l'usage de l'anglais pour publier, depuis longtemps accepté en sciences exactes, a du mal à passer pour des matières dont les objets d'étude sont constitués par le langage.

"L’hégémonie de l’anglais comme langue de communication scientifique pose problème dans certaines disciplines où écrire en français n’était pas jusqu’à une date récente un handicap pour le succès de ses idées. Les choses ont changé", affirme l'économiste Alain Trannoy, de l'EHESS et membre du conseil fraîchement institué.

Pour l'historien Jean-Frédéric Schaub, lui aussi de l'EHESS et membre du conseil, il est vain de vouloir s'opposer à l'anglais comme outil de communication dans la mesure où "il n'existe pas actuellement de dispositif d'échanges scientifiques qui soit réellement plurilingue, ni à l'échelle européenne ni à l'échelle mondiale".

Selon ce spécialiste d'histoire européenne, "l'un des problèmes majeurs est la place absolument outrancière occupée par la société française comme objet d'examen dans les sciences humaines françaises" au détriment des autres cultures, dont l'étude devrait occuper une place centrale.

Enfin, si nombre de sociologues, anthropologues ou historiens français sont toujours invités par les plus prestigieuses universités américaines, le rang de la France n'est plus ce qu'il était il y a 30 ans, en raison de la présence croissante de chercheurs asiatiques, africains ou latino-américains.

After trying out Office 2010, Office 2010 I found that I really like it. Outlook 2010 I purchased Office for install Microsoft outlook 2010 on 3 computers Office 2010 key and it was easy to install on the laptop. Microsoft Office 2010 I just got online with Microsoft gave them Microsoft Office my product and in 8 minutes I was off and Microsoft outlook running. With trying to install on Office professional 2010 my XP system, that is a different story. I can't even install until I have the latest MSXML very installed for Office 2010 download which I cannot find the version they are looking for or any Office 2007 information on it. So I am disappointed that it is this much of a hassle to get software loaded onto an existing Microsoft system.
