Chercheur à l'université: "Plus je gravis les échelons, moins je gagne!" - Le Post.fr

Après une thèse de recherche fondamentale génétique, je suis actuellement en post-doctorat de recherche en biologie cellulaire. Avec ce post, je souhaite témoigner sur l'insertion (délicate) d'un jeune chercheur à l'université, histoire aussi de chasser certaines idées reçues... :

"Plus j’avance dans ma carrière de chercheur fondamental, plus j’aperçois un fossé entre nous, le peuple des laboratoires, et vous, le grand public. J’en veux pour preuve les derniers articles parus dans Le Monde : "Malaise à l'université" et "Les soutiers de l'université", mais surtout les réactions suscitées.

La majorité des commentaires désagréables envers les (jeunes) docteurs sont basés sur une incompréhension profonde et une non connaissance de nos conditions de travail. Et c’est normal : tout le monde ne fait pas 8 ans d’étude à l’université et tous les parcours universitaires ne se ressemblent pas.

Les problèmes rencontrés sont souvent "filières-spécifiques". Avec cette grande question : pourquoi ne pas avoir appris un métier utile ? Question que les non-chercheurs trouvent légitimes (si il n’y a pas de débouchés, pourquoi choisir cette voie) et qui fait bondir les jeunes docteurs sur leur chaise. Comme si j’avais volontairement sacrifié 12 ans de ma vie pour rien !

Alors pourquoi la recherche ? Je ne parlerai pas au nom de tous. Je ne donnerai que mon avis, celui d'un jeune docteur en biologie fondamentale, histoire de faire avancer la réflexion et les mentalités.
