La visite "Le Paris de la Grande Guerre" accompagnée par les CRS

Certaines photographies prises lors de ce cours consacré à "La Grande Guerre à Paris" ont pu surprendre quelques internautes et il a semblé nécessaire de faire un rapide compte rendu des conditions dans lesquelles il s'est déroulé
Trois enseignants (Elise Julien, de Lille 3, Nicolas Offenstadt et moi-même, de Paris 1) qui ont eu l'occasion de mener des recherches sur la Première Guerre mondiale ainsi que des étudiants étaient bien présents ce vendredi à 11 heures sous l'Arc de Triomphe pour la première étape de cette visite pédagogique dont la problématique mettait en rapport l'histoire d'un conflit et sa mémoire telle qu'elle est construite en un milieu urbain spécifié.
Avertis grâce à l'excellent site "Sorbonneengreve", des policiers étaient également venus en nombre. En dépit de nos précisions et profitant d'une supériorité numérique tout comme du caractère explicitement pacifique de nos intentions, ils nous ont poussés hors du plateau et dans le souterrain jusqu'aux Champs-Elysées, assurant une singulière séance de travaux (très) dirigés d'instruction civique et suscitant la curiosité des nombreux touristes présents. La présentation liminaire de "Paris et sa population au début du XXe siècle" a ainsi été abrégée. Les nombreux policiers présents ont ensuite pu profiter d'une courte conférence "Histoire et mémoire du soldat inconnu", tout en regrettant sans doute avec nous qu'elle n'ait pas pu se tenir à proximité de la flamme, ce qui aurait été bien plus pertinent.
Puis nous avons , accompagnés par des policiers en civil, descendu les Champs-Elysées en réfléchissant notamment sur l'inscription de ce conflit dans la toponymie. Deux fourgons sont venus renforcer les équipages des véhicules déjà présents. La force publique a alors effectué un mouvement tournant pour nous encercler tandis que les policiers écoutaient avec attention une analyse de la place de la statue de Clemenceau au sein de la statuaire parisienne. Entravant notre liberté de circulation en une désagréable promiscuité, la police ne nous a laissé partir qu'en groupes de cinq en direction de la station de métro.
Quelques instants plus tard, nous nous sommes retrouvés, comme prévu dans notre programme initial, dans la cour des Invalides. Nous y avons développé une réflexion sur la mémoire de la Grande Guerre telle qu'elle est construite et vécue par l'institution militaire et la population. Le cours s'est terminé devant l'escalier d'honneur de la mairie du VIIe arrondissement où le caractère singulier du monument aux morts qui y est situé a été mis en perspective avec les pratiques de deuil dans l'ensemble du pays.
Tout en regrettant que des éléments perturbateurs nous aient fait perdre un temps précieux et contraints au sacrifice de deux parties du cours ("Paris bombardé, 1914-1918" et "Les usines de Paris pendant la Grande Guerre"), nous avons tous, étudiants et enseignants, fort apprécié ce cours "hors les murs" très instructif.

Ce travail s'est réalisé dans le cadre d'un projet commun aux deux lycées et à un Musée de Montreuil sous Bois intitulé:"Images croisées de la Grande Guerre: mémoire arrageoise et mémoire parisienne".
